“Now he (Jesus) had to go through Samaria.” John 4:4
The narrow way cannot be traveled with a narrow mind. Jews would literally walk miles out of their way to avoid setting foot in Samaria. Their hatred of the half breeds sandwiched between their two prime territories makes the story of the good Samaritan enough for any normal Jew to hate Jesus for suggesting there could be such a thing as a morally superior Samaritan. In order to follow Jesus the disciples had to take the easy way to Galilee but the hard way to enlightenment.
